Ellison is a beautiful, rural neighbourhood in the Northeast of the city consisting of many farms and ranchlands. It’s boundaries start at the junction of Highway 97 and Old Vernon Road and extending into the hills to the East and the neighbouring Municipal District of Lake Country to the North. The lifestyle here is a little more laidback than the central parts of Kelowna. There are many acreages, active farms and orchards producing much of the region’s fruit and vegetable crops. There are also horse pastures, stables, and riding centres. For other activities, there are three golf courses (Sunset Ranch, Kelowna Springs, Shadow Ridge) and various parks and sports fields in the neighbourhood and just a quick drive to the South in Neighbouring Rutland. The backcountry can be accessed within minutes via Postil Lake Road, where outdoor enthusiast can find many areas for hiking, snowshoeing, fishing, kayaking, and more. It is also a great location for motorized sports including ATV and dirt bike riding.
Ellison has its own elementary school and middle and high schools are located close by. The neighbourhood has a new shopping centre with a variety of amenities. It is also just a 10-minute drive from many restaurants and shops in neighbouring Rutland, Central City Kelowna and Lake Country. The Kelowna International Airport is located within the community and is home to one of Kelowna’s largest employers, Kelowna Flightcraft.
