kelowna and the Okanagan Valley

The focal point of the Okanagan Valley is the vibrant, thriving, City of Kelowna.  Just across the lake is the growing City of West Kelowna. Neighbouring communities also include the Municipal District of Peachland, the Municipal District of Lake Country, and the Central Okanagan Regional District which includes smaller communities like Joe Rich and Big White.

Within each of the four major areas there are numerous individual neighbourhoods offering a variety of amenities and and variations on the Okanagan Lifestyle. We've done our best to provide you with as much information as possible and will continue to update.

Kelowna

The City of Kelowna is a thriving place made up of numerous different neighbourhoods. With a population of roughly 127,000 and counting, it is the largest city in the Okanagan and the metropolitan area is the largest between the Greater Vancouver Area and the City of Calgary, Alberta. Kelowna is surrounded by wilderness to the East and South and bordered by Okanagan Lake to the West. To the North and across the lake and to the South are many other communities making up the whole of the beautiful Okanagan Valley.

West Kelowna

The City of West Kelowna is yet another made up of numerous different neighbourhoods and together they have grown to a population of roughly 33,000. It is the second largest city in the Central Okanagan and the gateway to the South Okanagan. West Kelowna is surrounded by wilderness to the North and West and bordered by Okanagan Lake to the East. Bordering it to the South is the District of Peachland.

Peachland

The District of Peachland is a rapidly growing community about a 30-minute drive South of Kelowna. Much of the community is built into the steep surrounding terrain. The hillside slopes down with just a few terraces before meeting the shores of Okanagan Lake. Peachland has a beautiful lakeshore with shops, restaurants, cafes, and beaches.

Lake Country

The District of Lake Country is a rapidly growing community bordering Kelowna to the South and the North Okanagan's largest city, Vernon, to the North. It is surrounded by wilderness to the East and Okanagan Lake to the West. As the name suggests, there are numerous other lakes in the area including Wood Lake, the dazzling Kalamalka Lake, and nearby Kelowna's Ellison Lake.

Central Okanagan Regional District

The Central Okanagan Regional District also includes a number of individual communities further from major populations centres including: Fintry on Northwestern shores of Okanagan Lake,  Joe Rich to the West of Kelowna on Highway 33, and Big White a ski resort in the neighbouring Okanagan Highlands.
